The public website already has information for you regarding restaurants. As far as tours and trips go, Yvonne can help. To reach Yvonne, please call +66 84 861 0817 by phone or WhatsApp. Or, if you go into the Chaweng or Bangrak beach areas, there are no shortage of tour operators who will be more than willing to book a tour for you to wherever you want to go. Enjoy Samui!
This page has some details on the villa. First, the TV and wi-fi if you run into any problems.
Wi-fi access
There are two networks, BaanShiloh_5G and BaanShiloh_2.4G. For either one, the password is listed on the placard near the front door as you walk in.
Turning on the TV
The upper left hand button on the big Samsung remote should turn on and off both the TV and the sound bar. You can control the soundbar volume from the small LG remote.
Clicking AISPLAY will get you to cable TV. In addition to all the Thai channels, there are a lot of interational stations for news, entertainment, movies, etc.

Other streaming
If you want to stream something else to the TV, you may be able to. Some services have gotten very good at blocking your access if you are outside of Europe or North America, even if you are on VPN. That said, if you want to try MAX, STARZ, Hulu, or other provider, just follow the directions below.

Using a Virtual Private Network (VPN)
And by the way, while you're in Thailand, we would recommend always using a VPN before you get online. Encrypt your connection and stay safe on the web. There are lots of options, and this is not a paid endorsement, but we use and trust Nord VPN.
A few other thoughts
Here are a few other thoughts about the villa, the neighborhood and the island, in no particular order.
-
7-11. The indispensable, ubiquitous convenience store that has what you need. There are two stores nearby Villa Shiloh. Go up to the main road and turn left. It’s about 450 meters on the right (north) side. For the other one, go to the main road and turn right. Drive about 700 meters to the intersection and you’ll see it on the corner. (This one also has a couple of ATMs.)
-
Big C Super Center, a department and grocery store. On the ring road a short distance away is Big C, a big department store with a huge grocery area that carries international foods.
-
Please be aware that you cannot buy alcohol from stores in Thailand between 2:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. Plus, restaurants will not (probably won't, and are not supposed to) serve you alcohol on Buddhist holidays and certain other days designated by the government. Check online.

Hospitals and clinics. Not where you want to be on holiday, but if you need one, there are a number of hospitals on the island. The closest ones are Bandon Hospital, Wattanapat Hospital, and Thai International Hospital. Bangkok Hospital Samui is popular among visitors, is the largest, and is several kilometers away in Chaweng Noi. For minor things, we go to Samui Home Clinic in Bangrak. Open 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. weekdays, shorter hours on the weekend.
Some notes on the villa
-
It's Thailand, and sometimes the power goes out. It won't last long, so have a Chang beer, relax, and it will come back on soon.
-
The house has water supplied by a well and by private water delivery service. This is common in Samui. We have 6,000 liters of storage that we frequently check, so you should never run out. Any problems, please call Yvonne.
-
Our plumbing is a septic system, also common in Samui. We discourage flushing of toilet paper, and please do not flush anything else down the toilet! If you are unfamiliar, may we introduce you to...the bum gun.
-
While the villa is on a spacious plot of land, the neighbors may frown upon wild and noisy late night parties. Please be a good neighbor.
-
Villa Shiloh is a non-smoking property, whether tobacco, vaping or marijuana. Vaping is illegal in Thailand.
-
The villa has landscape lighting that comes on at dusk and turns off around midnight. There is also perimeter lighting around the gates and walls that stays on until about 2:00 a.m.
-
There is a small white remote control for the pool light in the bowl near the front door.
-
If it's your first time to Thailand, you might notice small geckos in the house from time to time. These are chingchok lizards, found everywhere in Thailand, often high up, clinging to walls or ceilings. These natives of southeast Asia are harmless and are a common sight in homes, hotels and guest-houses where they should be welcomed because they like to eat mosquitos! Learn more.
